Behind the Scenes of the Final Assembly Before Exhibiting the 150cm Moving & Talking Gourai【Activity Report】
The 150cm “Moving & Talking Gourai” was successfully completed and made its first appearance at the 63rd All Japan Model & Hobby Show, held on October 18–19 at the Kotobukiya booth.
In this Activity Report, we share the behind-the-scenes process of the final assembly conducted just before the exhibition.
1. Finishing Work: Final Checks of All Components
In the days leading up to the exhibition, the team performed final checks and adjustments on the exterior, paintwork, and internal frame structure.
From surface preparation to the topcoat, the texture, gloss, color saturation, and gradation were examined to maximize the character’s appearance.
Joint fitting accuracy was inspected, interference prevention was carried out, and paint thickness was checked to maintain quality.
Adjustments were also made to ensure stable standing posture during the exhibition, including base fixation strength and balance control.
2. Assembly Process: Building the Structure
After completing paintwork and fitting checks, the team proceeded to assemble the internal frame.
Motors, servos, and control boards were connected, and mechanical integration adjustments were made.Wiring routes were optimized and interference was eliminated to achieve smooth and natural motion at the large 150cm scale.
3. Expression & Motion Synchronization: Bringing It to Life
The team tested synchronization between audio, motion, and projection mapping. Different materials and projection angles were examined to achieve natural and expressive facial visuals.
By linking motion control and projected visuals, the “Moving & Talking Gourai” was refined to deliver a lifelike presence.
4. Completion: A Result of Dedicated Effort
After months of development, testing, and adjustments, the 150cm “Moving & Talking Gourai” was finally completed. Each exterior part and joint reflects the passion of the development team and the support of all contributors.
Right before the exhibition, when the model moved and spoke, the team was filled with emotion—as if life had been breathed into it.
In the next activity report, we will share details on the exhibition setup, the special performance program, and the atmosphere at the venue. We appreciate your continued support.
